CVO is an alternative version of the traditional CVG (coconut, vermiculite, gypsum) recipe. For a higher yield, we have added oyster shell meal and organic coffee grounds.

This special mixture is pasteurized, so it is ready to use in your monotub or your grow kit.

The substrates are sold in filtered mushroom bags.

Why Oyster Shell?

Mushrooms need calcium for proper growth and development. Mollusk shells, being rich in calcium carbonate, can be finely ground into a powder and added to mushroom culture media to provide a natural and slowly absorbed source of calcium. They also help regulate the pH of the mushroom culture medium.

Irish oyster shells are ground into a fine powder and added to the substrate.

Why Coffe Grounds?

Coffee grounds, in addition to providing good nutrition, have been shown to increase crop yields and fungal growth when used in the right combinations. Coffee is typically harvested using defoliating chemicals and machinery. These chemicals are also found in roasted coffee beans.

The coffee we use comes from certified organic farms where the beans are hand-picked without the use of chemicals. Country of origin: Peru
